Navigate Life's Challenges With ESJCounselling

Hello and Welcome. You might be on my page because something in your life has become challenging and you need some support and someone to talk to. I can be that person you need right now. We can work through the challenges in your life so you can feel relieved, at peace, and ready to enjoy life. You are not alone in this difficult time.

How I can help?

I work with my clients mostly in a person-centred way, but when I feel they require a little more, I use some creative aspects, psychoeducation, grounding, and various other tools to meet their specific needs as an individual. This is more of an integrative approach. Integrative counselling is a collaborative approach to therapy that focuses on the whole person as an individual.

The integrated approach to therapy believes that there is no single strategy that can treat every client in every situation because we are all so unique and individual.

My Specialities

What is person centred counselling?

Person-centred therapy is one of the humanistic approaches to counselling. It was founded in the 1940s by Carl Rogers, who thought that, given sufficient conditions a person may attain their full potential and become their authentic self. This means that if someone is given a supported and safe environment, they can work through their difficulties with a non-judgmental and empathetic professional.

“I feel happier just for being myself and letting others be themselves” – Carl Rogers

About Me

I understand that life can be challenging at times and sometimes you need someone to talk to. That’s why I started ESJ counselling – to support people through the difficult times in their lives, enabling them to feel calmer, connected, and ready to enjoy life again. We can explore your difficulties together, and I will show you easy, effective strategies to handle them, giving you greater control over your life.

I am a fully qualified and insured integrative therapist and a member of the BACP. I see people of all ages; however, I do specialise in working with children (from the age of 10), adolescents, and young adults, which can be either face to face or online. My aim is to provide a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where you can come and express your difficulties and challenges. I can offer support in helping you to explore your thoughts and feelings if that is what you need. Counselling can help support you in any situations that have left you feeling anxious, stressed, hurt, frustrated or lonely.

I have many years of experience working at a small local charity who specialises in supporting children and young people’s mental health. I have also worked at a small local rehabilitation centre where I supported individuals and their families through the struggles of addiction.

Through my work experience, I have gained knowledge of how children and young people can experience the world and how this differs from adults. It can be useful for children to feel welcome by being able to express their feelings in ways they want to, this could be through creative work or through playing games.

FAQ's

Counselling is a form of talking therapy undertaken by a professionally qualified counsellor. Counselling provides a safe and confidential environment for individuals who find themselves struggling with their mental health. You have the opportunity to express your thoughts about any difficulties you are currently experiencing.

That is completely up to you. The content of our sessions are confidential and the room I use to see clients is at the back of a church which means this is a very discreet location so no one needs to know you are coming for counselling. If you are under the age of 18, I will need your parents/care givers consent.

Counselling works best as a continuous process that requires commitment. I do offer fortnightly sessions. However, I do believe the best results are from weekly sessions.

It is entirely up to you how you wish to have your counselling. Both online and face to face work well and I charge the same fees for both, so the choice is up to you.

This is different for everyone; it will vary on the reason you have come for counselling. Some individuals see counselling as more long-term and have a regular spot each week, others come for a specific reason and may only need a few sessions. I would generally say start with 6 sessions as this will enable us to build a rapport and we can review how the counselling is going and if you wish to continue.

You can contact me by filling out the form on this website or you can send me an email or leave me a voicemail/text or WhatsApp and I will be in touch to book an appointment.
