Frequently Asked Questions
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what’s brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for, and how I work. There’s no pressure — it’s also a time for you to ask questions and see if it feels like a good fit.
This varies for each person. Some people come for a short time (6–12 sessions), while others choose longer-term support. We’ll review together as we go and work at a pace that suits you.
Yes, you are free to end counselling whenever you feel ready. I just ask that, where possible, we plan an ending session together — to bring things to a gentle close.
Yes, your sessions are confidential. The only exceptions are if I’m concerned about serious risk of harm to you or someone else — in which case, I’ll always try to speak with you first. I follow the ethical guidelines set out by the BACP.
Yes — working with children and young people is a special area of interest for me. I offer age-appropriate, creative, and gentle approaches to help young clients feel comfortable and understood. Parents/carers are welcome to discuss how the process works and what to expect.
I understand that things come up. If you need to cancel, please give at least 24 hours’ notice where possible. Late cancellations may be charged.
